Next Generation Learning Standards
The curriculum identifies what students need to know (content and concepts) and be able to do (skills and processes). In the Central Square School District, the curriculum incorporates and aligns directly with New York State Standards. For each grade level and for all subject areas, standards are identified and supported by Key Ideas, Performance Indicators, and Core Curriculum. The Core Curriculum identifies the knowledge and skills that need to be taught and assessed in the classroom.

To help parents prepare for the transition to the Next Generation Learning Standards, NYSED collaborated with multiple partners, including parents, to develop a resource that facilitates and promotes parental involvement and engagement. This resource provides a description of the instructional cycle and the role of learning standards in the cycle, an FAQ for the Next Generation Learning Standards and links and resources to support classroom learning at home.
