CSMS 6th graders bring Greek Museum to life
Central Square Middle School sixth-grade scholars recently brought Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology to life.
The live Greek Museum took place just before winter break as sixth grade team one celebrated the end of an ELA novel and unit of study in social studies class by participating in the enrichment project.
From towering gods to brave warriors, students had an outstanding time researching and then showcasing history in action, filling the CSMS cafeteria with buzz, a unique learning experience and vivid memories for the participants.
“This was very impressive to watch and it was abundantly clear how much fun the students had with this engaging, innovative project,” said CSMS principal Jeffrey King. “The students and teachers who worked on this should be very proud.”
Students chose a god, goddess, or creature from Greek Mythology to research and learn about over the span of six weeks and then showcased their learning in a Greek Museum by performing in character and costume. In addition to what students learned in ELA and social studies, the cross-curricular culminating activity also included learning products from science, math and reading class.
