At the start of a new year, many of us become reflective and consider changes and improvements for the coming months. Practicing self-care by exercising more often, eating a balanced diet, and spending more time with family top the list. Consider breaking a general New Year’s goal down into manageable monthly mini-goals and strive to reach those, as a family.
Like last month, another Habit for Highly Effective Teens is to Think Win-Win. To me, this month’s Habit is about considering how it’s not you or me, but both of us. This Habit is the foundation for learning to get along well with other people and a great reflection point for January.
Regents exam week is nearly upon us, and we are a few weeks away from the start of the second semester. It’s hard to believe that the year is halfway completed. We have opportunities for students to get academic help and Regents review from certain teachers after school. Students will be able to take the 3:40 late bus home, if needed. Please reach out to teachers or one of our School Counselors if you or your child have concerns. We are here to help!
Winter in Central New York is a great time for many outdoor and indoor activities, but it also allows us to slow down and spend time with our family on these cozy, chilly evenings. Sit down to some comfort food, play a family board game, or read a book together. Enjoy the quieter, slower pace post-holidays.
Happy New Year,
Heidi Sweeney
