There is not a superintendent in New York State that knows how school will look in September, as those are decisions that the Governor, Health Department, and the NYS Education Department will make and we will all hear those decisions through executive orders released by the Governor. However, we will be surveying the staff for their feedback on how we can improve distance learning if traditional in-person school does not start in September. We will also be surveying all parents and guardians for your feedback on how we can improve as well. In the coming weeks, we expect guidance from the Governor and the State Education Department, and we will keep you all updated and informed. We fully recognize that our execution of distance learning during the closure was far from perfect, but given the circumstances and the parameters our teachers were given literally overnight on March 13, I’d say our staff was pretty remarkable. With that said, there is always room for improvement and whatever decisions the Governor makes, we will do our very best to provide engaging instruction as well as addressing the social and emotional needs of our students. We will also make sure we are supporting the parents/guardians as well, because we recognize how difficult your role is and we greatly appreciate your effort. I’m sure many of you have questions and concerns regarding what the fall will look like and we will provide you with that opportunity to share feedback when we send out the survey in the coming weeks.
Our talented PVM High School Vocal Jazz seniors wanted to share a special message with their fellow seniors and all the staff across the District. This is powerful!:
