Annual District Vote Update 6-2-20
June 2, 2020
This has been a turbulent time in all of our lives, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Annual District Vote has also been very different than in years past. The District has worked extremely hard to create a fiscally responsible budget in the face of potentially devastating cuts in NYS aid next year, as we strive to provide the best educational opportunities for all of our student and their families.
In addition, we have followed all the requirements of Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.26, as it applies to the annual district vote and the requirement for all school districts to conduct by absentee ballot. We understand that this process is a new and unfamiliar process for many, so we would like to provide you with some details regarding the Central Square Central School District’s voting process and deadlines:
- The Executive Order states that all district votes must be conducted entirely by absentee ballot and that all ballots must be mailed by June 3, 2020. Although we had intended for ballots to be mailed out sooner, there was a massive shortage of envelopes that the company we and many other districts use for this, NTS, had faced. However, NTS, has given us confirmation that they were mailed today (June 2, 2020).
- The District will have a locked box to drop off your ballot, for anyone that would rather personally submit your ballot than to mail it back. The ballot box will be located at the Central Square Intermediate building, at 68 School Drive in Central Square on Monday, June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. It will be right inside the front door and the District Clerk will be there to oversee this process.
- Please make sure you fill out both the ballot and envelope completely, and sign/date the return envelope.
- All ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020.
