BOARD COMMITTEES

The Board of Education may, from time to time, establish committees whose membership will consist of members of the Board. The Vice President of the Board shall serve as an ex-officio member of all committees to which he/she is not appointed. Board committees shall undertake studies and make reports as charged by the Board, but shall not act on behalf of the Board.

The Board may establish standing or ad hoc committees and reserves the right to terminate any committees at any time. Appointments to the established committee will be made by a vote of a majority of the Board, after each member has had an opportunity to express his/her preferences. Standing committees of the Board of Education will be: Policy Committee. Each Board Committee will include four members to be appointed by the President, subject to paragraphs one and two above.

A central office administrator may be assigned as an ex-officio member of each standing and/or ad hoc committee by the Superintendent of Schools.

All committees will operate according to the "Open Meetings Law". Any official policy-level action is the sole discretion of the Board. The Board is in no way obligated to follow committee recommendations. The Board has the right to accept, reject, or modify all or any part of a committee recommendation.
