INTERPRETERS FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED PARENTS REGULATION

PROCEDURES

 1.                  All district parents or guardians shall be notified of interpretation services through the District Newsletter, kindergarten screening etc.

 2.                  The district administrative staff will be informed of the policy, and will be responsible for notifying staff of the same.

 3.         All requests for the interpretation service must be received by the district within ten (10) days prior to the scheduled meeting or activity, and will be directed to, and arranged by, the Director for Special Education. If the parent has been given less than two weeks notice of the meeting or activity, the request for the interpretation service must be submitted to the District as soon as possible after receipt of such notice.

 3.                  A list of Interpreters will be approved by the Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent.

 4.                  If an interpreter is not available, reasonable accommodations that are acceptable to the parents or guardians will be made.
