No district officer or employee shall directly or indirectly receive any gift whether in the form of money, services, loans, travel, entertainment, hospitality, etc., under circumstances in which it could reasonably be inferred that the gift was intended to influence the performance of his/her duties. However, the Board of Education welcomes the writing of letters or notes to staff members expressing gratitude or appreciation. Nothing herein should be construed as prohibiting the traditional exchange of holiday or birthday gifts, and students and/or parent gifts to teachers, coaches, advisors, etc., as an expression of recognition.
