An introduction to WebQuests
WebQuests are activities that help the student to meet curriculum objectives using the scope and power of the Internet. A good WebQuest is a carefully designed activity that includes assignments and pre-selected web sites (and other resources) to direct students to complete the assignment with efficiency and optimal learning.
A good WebQuest will:
engage the learner
develop high order thinking skills
use scaffolding to move students through "chunks" of the task
involve several sources of information
probably involve some cooperative learning
create a product that can be evaluated
have a rubric to assess the product
We all know that the best way to learn is by doing, so we will begin learning about WebQuests by following a WebQuest about Quests. Let's get started!
