A School- Business Partnership
Home and Careers Skills Department
and
Rotary Club of Oneida Shores
All students in eighth grade Home and Career Skills classes
are eligible to participate in our job shadow program. This is a school/ business/
community partnership with the Central Square and Brewerton area business community.
The Home and Careers Department and the Oneida Shores Rotary Club work together
to set up job shadows with area businesses. The Rotary Club also supports this
activity financially by providing the funds for bussing our students to the
job sites.
Students in the job shadow program go to a local business and shadow a worker
who is performing his or her normal duties on the job. Many students also have
a chance to help with some of the work while they see the way familiar businesses
look from the other side of the counter. Students often discover new things
about themselves during the job shadow experience. This successful program is
enjoyable for the students and their hosts alike.
