A Message from Ms. Galvan

2007-2008

Dear CSI Students and Families,

On behalf of the students and staff of Central Square Intermediate School, I would like to welcome you.  Central Square Intermediate school is home to 398 students in grades 3 - 5.  We have twenty seven teachers and nine teaching assistants available to provide your son or daughter with  a quality and adventurous educational experience.

At Central Square Intermediate we focus our efforts on your child's academic success.  However, we cannot do it alone.  We need your support and assistance.  Some very important strategies that lead to academic success begin at home with you.  Research supports that regular attendance is very important to academic achievement.  Other influences are healthy sleep habits, nutritional meals, especially breakfast, a regular daily after school routine that includes homework and reading for at least 15 minutes per day.  Attendance habits, patterns of organization and responsibility begin at the elementary level.  Please assist us as we work with your children to develop the necessary skills to make healthy life choices and become contributing citizens ready to compete in an ever changing world.

In addition to our well-experienced staff, every classroom has a cluster of computers to support instruction with technology.  We also have a  computer lab with twenty seven computer stations as well as an LCD projector for large group instruction.  The District has recently adopted both new Math and English Language Arts series. We are in our third year with the Everyday Math program, and began implementation of the Harcourt Brace TROPHIES reading series in September of 2006.

Aside from our academic offerings our staff facilitates such extra-curricular activities such as the New Kids Crew, Kids with Character Club, Library Club, Garden Club, Runner's Club, Drama Club, Computer Club, Student Council, Wee Deliver, Big Brother/Big Sister Program, Band, Chorus, etc.  We encourage students to become involved in their school community.  If you would like more information about these and other opportunities please contact your child's teacher.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at 668-4229.  You may also reach me by e-mail at cgalvan@cssd.org.

Sincerely,

Ms. Concetta Galvan
