
Career Development Task Force
Established:
July
1998 with assistance of a grant from the Oswego County Workforce Preparation
Partnership.
Purpose:
To
develop a comprehensive and coordinated K-12 career development program that will
facilitate implementation of the Career Development and Occupational
Studies learning standards (CDOS).
Goals:
Staff
Development
- Orientation to and training
for CDOS
- Awareness of current workplace
expectations, needs, and technology through teacher job
shadows.
- Exposure to applied learning
techniques linked to classroom activities and curriculum (Tech-Prep,
Business-Education Partnerships, Project SMART)

Career
Portfolio:
- Examination of career
planners/career portfolios and adoption of a prototype for use with all
Central Square students.
* Time Line: Ongoing
Development and implementation of a K-12
Career Development program.
- A scope and
sequence of career development activities that incorporates self-awareness,
career awareness, career exploration, and career planning will be created and
implemented for all students.
